Anthony's provides consistent superior cleaning of fine garments. For over 50 years Anthony's Laundry and Dry Cleaners has earned and maintained the reputation of being one of the best cleaners in Austin. Our home is in the charming neighborhood of Clarksville at 1113 West Lynn. Our clients are well dressed, and they demand a superior product. We take considerable pride in delivering consistent high quality; and we are dedicated to providing the highest level of personable service. In November, Kim's Cleaners of Westlake (the other best cleaners in Austin) purchased Anthony's from Charlotte Looney. It was a perfect match. We are two small, closely held neighborhood operations dedicated to making you look great. We welcome you.

Always good, never lost a piece, never damaged a piece. never failed to replace a button in 20+ years. You pay for quality and peace of mind and it's worth it.

Do not use the laundry service (wash and fold) at this place. We brought in our clothes, were charged 20 bucks for the service and when we received them back most of it was shrunk. Our clothes was ruined (the t-shirts would not even fit anymore).
When we went back with our problem we were told that it is not their fault our clothes was ruined and that we would have to be called back by the manager within one or two days. The manager did not call.
So after two days we called the place ourselves and finally got the manger on the line. The manager told us that there is nothing they could do as they did nothing wrong. They were merely following the protocol, so it is not their responsibility. We were appalled by the rudeness of the manager. We said we wanted our money back at least for the service and at first they did not even want to do that.
Eventually the manager talked to the owner and they agreed to give us the money back for the service (the 20 bucks), saying that this is all they can do because it is (they repeated that at least 10 times) "not their fault" they ruined our clothes. Great.
Sufficient to say we will never be coming back to this place, and we strongly do not recommend it to anyone else.
If you don't want your clothes and your day to be ruined, avoid Anthony's Laundry and Drycleaners.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - A C.Austin, TX2181Sep 10, 2019
Overview:
-24 hour turnaround for wash + fold.
-I believe it was $3 per pound? Eeek!
-First woman seemed frustrated at my asking for this service.
-On pick up day I was met by a new face and informed that my receipt was filled out incorrectly, that she couldn't find my clothes, and when she did, they were on the floor in the back room in the original processing bag and had not been cleaned.
-Still couldn't have the clothes ready until the next morning.
-No apologies and after encountering yet a third new person I was informed that I was given a "discount". I still paid about $28 dollars for a 48 hour turnover.
-RIP to the two socks I am missing. Your partners will miss you!
-Will never use this location for this service again and do not recommend this place.
I was staying in the Tarrytown area and on the hunt for a wash + fold. After such a wonderful experience at Michael A Laundromat near South Lamar, I was under the impression I would find a similar experience here. Not having transportation makes it especially difficult for me to drop off and pick up clothes and after visiting two dry clean only stores that day and walking a total of 2.5 miles to finally arrive at this location, I was sweaty but hopeful. I was met with a curt attitude and a bit of frustration at requesting this service. I am not one to demand sunshine and rainbows but I also really dislike feeling like a burden when I am paying for a service that is offered. She informed me after beginning to process my clothes that I couldn't do same day pick up. Frustrating but also my fault for not asking before handing over my clothes. I was given a small, yellow receipt and told to come back the next day after 5pm. I arrived the next day around 5:20 and was greeted by a new face. I handed her my receipt and she proceeded to tell me that the information on the receipt was filled out incorrectly and when looking up my last name, she couldn't find anything. She went to the back room and returned empty handed (talk about a heart attack, those are ALL of my clothes). When I described what the previous woman had told me and what color the bag was, she was able to locate it. She informed me that she found it on the floor and that it was still dirty. She said she would talk to her manager who was coming in shortly and that she could expedite it for 9am the next morning (thank you!). Arriving the next morning I encountered yet another new face who was unaware of my story and early morning pickup. She went to the back and returned with my clothes folded and wrapped up in brown paper. I think she noticed my reaction when she told me the price because she informed me that I was given a discount for the trouble. Maybe I am out of line for thinking it should have been much lower or, to be completely honest, free? But I digress. I didn't need an apology per say but when mistakes are made in a service industry position, accountability and/or showing sympathy/remorse goes a long way (I've done customer service for 13 years and I know that experiences like this are what lose you business in the long run). I would not recommend this location to anyone who is looking for wash + fold and exceptional customer service.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Larry M.Austin, TX163367300Mar 12, 2007
This tried and true Clarksville establishment MAY (?) have lost my best purple shirt, but I'm not holding it against them until I have proof.
Walkable for Clarksville residents, the old school cleaners still uses a rotating contraption where you pull your ticket when you're done and they'll retrieve your dry cleaning for you.
NOT cheap, but may be worth the novelty of feeling like you're operating in the past (with visiting the drug store next door for a malt).
If not in Clarksville, would not recommend, but feel that a place with this much character needs to be cherished.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Lynn N.Austin, TX5445302Apr 28, 2018
I've been using Anthony's for weekly dry cleaning for one year. I'm super picky on many aspects of using a dry cleaner: how they treat your clothes, can they find your clothes, are they pleasant when you walk in andouille their door--because there are many other dry cleaners to chose from. Anthony's has met all of my criteria. They do a great job with my clothes, they've found everything efficiently, and the staff is increasingly warm as I become more of a regular. I've needed to interact with the owner several times and he has been proactive, prompt and fair.

If I could leave 0 stars, I would. I dropped off a large number of cotton poplin shirts to be pressed & folded, and I specified they should not be cleaned - definitely not dry cleaned.
When I picked them up, I was charged nearly $10 a shirt. Thinking it must have been a mistake, I called the next day and asked the cost to press & gold a button down shirt. I was told roughly $2.50/shirt. When I asked why I was charged nearly $10, the people I spoke with could give no coherent explanation, rather became defensive. Saying I had been charged dry cleaning plus folding, even though a) the shirts hadn't been dry cleaned, and b) I asked for them to NOT be dry cleaned. I was told I was charged that amount because they "went to the dry cleaning area."
I couldn't get a reasonable explanation after a long conversation, or a refund. I just don't understand why I should be charged for a service I didn't ask for and didn't even receive? The shirts aren't even dry-clean only.
I'm beyond confused and disappointed.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - gc c.Travis, TX798Jun 9, 2018
Big fan. I'm picky and they do a great job. $ but worth it. I have tried others and always come back.

Am super bummed. I've used Anthony's on and off for years, but my husband has had two really bad experiences there and now I can't go back. The most recent of which was when he took in a dress shirt he needed cleaned for an out of town wedding, we were flying out very early the day after it was supposed to be ready. When he went to pick it up, they couldn't find it. What's even worse, turns out THEY FORGOT TO SEND IT OUT. Period. And offered to do nothing to help. Wouldn't even press or steam it for him to get out the wrinkles. They were actually dismissive. Terrible service and customer service.

First off, I never Yelp. But my latest experience with Anthony's Laundry after years of being a customer has encouraged me to do so. I've frequented Anthony's for years for dry cleaning and small repairs/alterations. One thing I regularly have cleaned is my down alternative comforter. In early August, I dropped it off for cleaning; they called back to ask if I'd like them to repair a small tear in one of the four corners, and I said that'd be great. I returned after the date it was supposed to be ready to find that it wasn't even on site, as the alterations gal takes the alterations elsewhere. So, I came back a week later to get the comforter.
When I took the comforter out of the bag, I realized the tear was still there. There was no stitching, no new thread, no attempt to repair it. I returned it to the cleaner and let them know, and asked for it to be cleaned again as it is white and has some small stains. I explained the tear was never repaired and showed them the spot, and pointed out that there was no stitching/new thread/etc. A week later, while traveling, I had a voicemail from Maria, the alterations gal, asking if I'd like it cleaned. I called back to let them know I did want it cleaned again. The gal on the phone told me that Maria had told her she had, in fact, repaired it and that they don't "just repair things again after they've been done." I re-explained that it was NEVER done - and that it was visibly clear that it had never been altered. She said I'd have to talk to Maria.
Maria called me back and said, "So let me get this straight. You dropped this off and picked it up and used it for weeks, and now you say it wasn't repaired?" It was dropped off on August 4 and picked up August 26. I took it back the first of September. So, no, it wasn't picked up and used. It was returned a week later. I returned it upon removing it from the cleaner bag. She kept referencing a time I dropped it off for cleaning in April - which had no relevance to the cleaning/repair in August. She insisted she "wouldn't have not repaired it." I told her over and over that there was still a huge tear - that it couldn't have been done, that I removed it from the bag and returned it to the cleaner a week after picking it up. She insisted she must have "fixed something else." There was no other tear to be fixed. She was rude, unprofessional, and wouldn't acknowledge that it hadn't been done to begin with. She told me she "wasn't arguing with me." I told her not to have it re-cleaned and that I'd pick it up as is and would not return for future business.
Sidenote: This isn't the first time a repair/alteration wasn't done for items dropped off for repair. In the past, there have been bras with exposed underwiring needing a quick stitch, and were never repaired upon pickup, also yielding a return to have it done a second time.
It's unfortunate because I prefer to frequent my neighborhood businesses, but having someone who represents a business behave so unprofessionally when she hadn't done a repair that was requested (which also extended the pick-up time) to begin with is beyond my comprehension. Nobody should speak to a customer that way. When a business makes a mistake, simply take accountability. I was only mildly annoyed about the oversight till I spoke to her and she refused to acknowledge it was oversight and suggested I used the comforter "all summer" before bringing it back (see dates above).Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Carla S.Canton, OH35628343Mar 9, 2010
A) So close to me they are ridiculously convenient
B) So nice and friendly
C) Carla is an IDIOT for not asking how much all she brought in would cost. That's not on them. That's alllllll my fault. I did 3 jackets, a sweater, and my king sized comforter for $84. I'm sure that's the normal price of such things. I just wish I would have inquired first because I do NOT even like my comforter set. It's just black and so are my cats and well you can follow the logic. Instead of paying approx $50 to clean this dopey thing, I'd have taken that money and added another $___.__ and bought a different set.
Ohh well live and learn.
They did a great job and complimented me on my Ganesh shirt (as has every place I've been to in Clarksville). I'm sure I'll be bumping them up another star or so in the future. I'm still reeling at my comforter kerfuffle. You understand.Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 0
