Whether you’re attending SXSW 2019 or avoiding it, it’s good to know what’s up with the fest if you plan on being in or anywhere near Austin during that time. Luckily, the city issues a (moderately) handy street closures map to help with that.
This year’s SXSW Conference & Festivals (its official name)—or 2019 “Spring Festival Season,” as the city calls it—takes place March 8-17.
As in previous years, large swaths of downtown will be, challenging to navigate for at least some hours every day during that time, starting at 7 a.m. that Friday and ending at 11:45pm the following Sunday. By which point everyone will be gone, exhausted, or both.
In addition to the closure map below, City Stage (the city’s branded events site) has an interactive map where one can filter festival travel information by date and select data layers, including applicable Capital Metro routes, special routes, and stops, as well as locations of Austin B-Cycle kiosks and lots of other helpful transit intel.
