After installing a whole home water softener, we were in need of an RO filter for our hot and cold drinking water faucet, to remove the added sodium (and any other impurities). Originally we were thinking of going for an RO system with electric pump (instead of a reservoir tank, these units have a motor to achieve the necessary flow rate and pressure). At the end of the day, what sold me on the Home Master though was:
1) No electricity needed, or motor that could fail. This also means system is super easy to work on and repair, if there's a failure down the road.
2) Less noise (the permeate pump will make a small noise periodically when refilling).
3) The permeate pump helps significantly reduce waste water.
4) Unique design that runs water through the remineralization filter twice (once on its way to tank, and a 2nd time on its way to faucet).
5) Everything is standardized, so you can easily swap out filters or reservoir tank with units from other brands, if needed.
6) The reservoir tank is a nice failsafe, if we temporarily lose water service.
7) The replacement filters are very economical.
I think the biggest downside is the large reservoir tank, not everyone is going to have room for that under their sink. This unit is also on the pricier side of passive RO water filters, but I think the extra features justify the price (like the permeate pump or remineralization filter).
In day-to-day use, I've been very happy with this unit. Installation was a breeze. No leaks. Quality Johnny Guest push-fit connectors. Water pressure has been great, I have it feeding an Insinkerator water heater and cold water faucet (I discarded the faucet that came with the Home Master, though it functions fine), and I've noticed no loss in flow rate. I use this system for coffee, where it's important to get the right mix of minerals and pH for optimal taste, and I've noticed no strange flavors. The TDS has been just about perfect, hovering around 30-50 ppm. Tastes just like the bottled spring water I get from the store. It's far cheaper than the professional RO water systems sold for coffee service at cafe's, which function very similarly but cost thousands. All in all, I've been very satisfied!

Best water ever
With all the concern of random chemicals in the water supply popping up in the news, I started investigating water purification solutions from filters attaching to the end of the faucet to whole house systems and prices varying from ten dollars to thousands of dollars. I decided that filtering the water at the kitchen sink and refrigerator covered 99% of the water we consumed.I had a old information that said reverse osmosis took 7 gallons of water to make one pure gallon of water. That is no longer the case. With Homemaster RO system the rate can be 1 to 1. That was huge. I also learned that simple multi-filtration solutions do not filter out many questionable chemicals, but RO systems do. Even with great city water management, not all potentially harmful chemicals are removed. Only with RO water filtration are you guaranteed the safest water for you and your family.I settled on the Home Master TMAFC-ERP Artesian Full Contact Reverse Osmosis System after an exhaustive internet search and talking to friends who had expensive RO systems installed by commerical water companies. Once I settled in on Home Master, I called their technical support line to help me sort through the minutia of detail separating their various RO solutions. Seriously, unless you're a water geek parsing the nuances between even the Home Master's systems can make you dizzy! After a couple minutes of questions from the tech, I got the perfect recommendation for my situation. I recommend that even the first time you order replacement cartridges that you call tech support to be sure you get just what you need.The system was delivered quickly, the online videos were helpful and technical support helped with my few remaining installation questions. If you can I would suggest installing it in a closet or utility room where changing filters is so much easier that kneeling under your sink.I've had my system for 3 years and found the replacement of filters very simple. Videos on the Home Master site helped me make sure I completed every step correctly.I feel great that I can stop buying bottled water and find it convenient to fill water bottles to take on the go, I know that water used for cooking or drinking in the house is safe and tastes great; their filtration cartridges add minerals back to the water giving it a satisfying and delicious flavor.Would I buy another one? In a heartbeat. In fact I am a remodeling contractor and have recommended Home Master RO systems to my clients. When part of a project, my plumber installs it for them and finds it an easy system to install. My homeowners find it easy to maintain.
